Indian Railways Mention Stations Height Above Sea Level in Railway Station Board know why

The name of the station is written in yellow boards at the railway station.
You'll notice it all.  But the inscriptions are written on how high the sea level is.  Have you ever wondered why it was mentioned there?  Going by train from one place to another you will see yellow plates.  The board will be in English, Hindi or native language.  There is also mention of the elevation at sea level along with the town or station.

Indian Railway Network is the largest railway network in the world.  Each railway station has a station master office and inquiry center.  The Railway Division has also given people a helpline.  You can call 139 to make any complaint or suggestion during travel.

Most importantly, the yellow plaque seen at the train station is a popular attraction.  The panel represents a hometown, a station, a travel destination.  At the beginning and end of the train station there is this large panel.  Curious to know which station we have just reached, the travelers notice it.  You may also have seen the elevation above sea level.

The yellow boards of the train station thus have the name of the station and the height of the station above sea level.  This is called Mean Sea Level (MSL).  The panel is fitted for passenger safety.  Trainers and train guards will know the Altitude they are traveling through MSL.

With the help of this MSL, the train driver (loco pilot) controls the speed of the train.  If the train is moving towards a higher altitude, the driver will power the engine accordingly.

The Indian Railways had stopped the railway traffic in March 2020 due to the coronavirus.  Since then, the Railway Department has introduced various new special trains for passengers after unlocking.  Most train traffic has resumed.
