Step 1 – Watch a DSpace overview
Watch the DSpaceintroductory video. This video walks you through a minute demonstration of
how DSpace works.
Step 2 – Try DSpace for yourself
Play with a demo version of
DSpace and see how it works before you download and install the entire
platform. You may access the DSpace demo
instance to explore the features and functionality of the latest
version of DSpace.
Step 3 – Learn about how to set up a
repository
Review the Digital Repositories infoKit created
by JISC/RSP, it is a practical ‘how to’ guide to setting up and running digital
repositories. This resource has been written for repository administrators. It
assumes no prior knowledge of repository matters and, more importantly, assumes
no prior technical knowledge.
Alternatively you can
review the LEADIRS
Workbook: Creating an Institutional Repository. The workbook
outlines the major steps and decisions an organization must take in designing
and building an institutional repository. Written originally for a series of
workshops in the UK, the workbook contains advice, sample documents, tools, and
reference materials.
Step 4 – Learn about common DSpace
customizations
Review the latest Guides and FAQs for
DSpace. These resources (including training resources/videos) are linked
to from our community Wiki.
